This is a Zenza Bronica SQ-A medium format camera. It produces 6×6 exposures on normal 120 roll-film. It’s highly regarded and is considered a modern day cult classic and has a lot of fans who enjoy using them. It’s considered an excellent alternative to a Hasselblad because the various Bronica lenses have a well deserved reputation for excellence and when purchased used, the lenses cost significantly less than their Zeiss counterparts.
The Zenza Bronica is a fine, quality camera and it features electronically controlled Seiko leaf shutter with a range of 8 seconds – 1 500th which are built into the interchangeable lenses. It also accepts interchangeable film backs. (The backs can be changed mid roll if desired.) The Bronica SQ-A is designed as a 6×6 format camera but it s also capable of producing 6×4.5 negatives when fitted with a 6×4.5 back.
It comes complete as shown and is ready to use. Additionally a lens cap and an owners manual (in German) is included. Free online instruction manuals in English are easily available on the internet.
The camera functions beautifully and tests show that everything works as it should. The lens is clean and clear. All the shutter speeds are appropriate, the focus is silky smooth and the glass looks like new. The interchangeable focus screen is clean and very bright. (I should mention that the 6×6 focus screen that s in the camera at the moment, has been marked in red by the previous owner to indicate the 6×4.5 format, so that this screen can be used for both 6×6 and 6×4.5 backs.)
We acquired this camera as a trade-in on one of our freshly serviced vintage cameras. If you look at the photos you’ll see that this Bronica SQ is in near mint condition. Everything works as it should. We’ve examined it carefully and everything looks virtually new.
All in all, it s a lovely medium format SLR camera that will give you many years of enjoyment.
